From Concept to Shelf

Frequently Asked Questions

What brand owners ask before launching a private-label product with L’Origine — from minimum orders and certifications to timelines and getting started.

Can L’Origine take me from an idea to a published, approved product all over the world?

Yes — that’s exactly what we do. Our promise is simple: from concept to shelf. L’Origine is a full-service OEM/ODM partner that takes your product from its initial idea all the way to a finished, market-ready product, handling every stage in between — brief and NDA, formulation and R&D, sampling, stability and quality testing, packaging design and sourcing, full-scale production, and quality control through to delivery. We also take care of the regulatory steps and product registration that make a product genuinely approved for sale in your target markets. With more than 35 years of experience, eight manufacturing sites worldwide and products already reaching 137+ countries across MENA, Europe and the USA, we can help you build a brand that’s ready to sell internationally — you own the brand; we make it real.

What is private label cosmetics manufacturing?

Private label manufacturing means we produce cosmetics that you sell under your own brand. You own the brand, label and identity, while we handle formulation, production, filling, packaging and quality control — so you can launch a professional beauty line without running your own factory or laboratory.

What is the difference between OEM and ODM cosmetics manufacturing?

With ODM, or private labelling, you start from our library of over 10,000 ready-made formulas and customise the scent, colour, packaging and branding — the fastest, lower-risk route to launch. With OEM, or licensing, you already have your product fully designed and we manufacture it for you with complete confidentiality, flexibility and precision. L’Origine offers both, so you can begin from your own finished product or from a proven formula.

Which product categories can L’Origine manufacture?

We manufacture across four worlds: cosmetics — hair care, skin care, body care, sun care (SPF 5–50+), baby and kids, and men’s grooming; perfumes — from eau de parfum and body mists to solid perfumes; aerosols — sprays, deodorants, hair colour, shaving foams and more, from our dedicated aerosol facility; and home care and detergents — cleaners, laundry care, disinfectants, air fresheners, candles and bakhoor. Few manufacturers cover all four, so you can develop a full range with a single partner.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We don’t work off a single fixed MOQ — it depends on the formula and packaging you choose. Starting from one of our 10,000+ ready-made formulas gives us the best chance of matching the exact quantity you want, provided the packaging you choose is compliant with that volume. We’re startup-friendly and comfortable with small test and pilot batches as well as large-scale runs: as a guide, many first orders fall around 5,000–10,000 units, though we can often go lower or higher once we’ve confirmed your formula and packaging. Whatever stage you’re at, don’t hesitate to reach out with your questions — we’re happy to help take your brand’s first steps, often within weeks.

How long does it take to develop and produce a product?

A typical project runs around 8–12 weeks from concept to delivery, depending on the product’s complexity and whether you need a custom formulation or start from an existing one. Your project moves through five clear stages — brief and NDA, price estimation, development and sampling, final quote and registration, then production and delivery — and we give you a schedule up front so you always know where things stand.

Can I get samples before committing to production?

Yes. During development we create samples so you can test the formula, texture, scent and packaging, run stability checks, and refine everything with us until the product is exactly right before we move to full production.

Can you create a custom formulation, or do you have ready-made ones?

Both. Our R&D team can develop a custom formulation to your brief, or you can start from our library of over 10,000 ready-made formulas across every category and customise from there — faster and lower-risk. We can also benchmark a reference product you like and develop a comparable formula. Three R&D innovation centres and a team of more than 20 chemists, engineers and formulators sit behind every project.

What certifications and quality standards does L’Origine hold?

Our manufacturing is GMP certified and holds ISO 22716:2007, the international standard for cosmetics good manufacturing practice, along with the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM). Quality runs through every stage: multi-stage checks from formulation to delivery, full batch traceability and raw-material inspection, CTFA-compliant microbiology testing, and a dedicated QC team managing quality end to end.

Can you register my products for the markets I want to sell in?

Yes. Our regulatory affairs team handles product registration in your target markets as part of the project, so your products meet the requirements to be sold regionally and internationally — across MENA, Europe and beyond. We guide you through the regulatory and labelling steps for each market you’re entering.

Do you handle packaging as well as the product?

Yes. We provide end-to-end support including packaging design, selection and sourcing — bottles, jars, tubes, pumps and closures — plus label and graphic design, and filling into your chosen format, so you receive a finished, shelf-ready product rather than bulk.

Where is L’Origine based, and do you export?

L’Origine is headquartered at the SAIF Zone in Sharjah, UAE, and operates eight manufacturing sites worldwide — across the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Italy, the UK and Brazil — supported by three R&D innovation centres. This footprint lets us reduce logistics costs, navigate regional regulations, and serve markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Our products already reach customers in 137+ countries.

How do I start a private-label project with L’Origine?

Tell us about your product idea, target market and volumes through our contact page — everything covered by an NDA from the start. We’ll estimate pricing to fit your business plan, develop and test samples, confirm a final quote and handle registration in your markets, then produce, quality-check and deliver to your warehouse. From concept to shelf, with you guided at every step.

Can startups and small brands work with L’Origine, or only established companies?

Yes. We work with first-time founders and entrepreneurs as well as established retail and hospitality brands. Our ODM route lets you start from one of over 10,000 ready-made formulas with a lower barrier to entry, which is the most common path for a brand’s first product.

Do you work with large, established brands and issue Proforma Invoices (PI)?

Yes. Alongside startups, we regularly support established and multinational brands scaling production across our eight manufacturing sites. Proforma Invoices are a standard part of our quotation process, with agreed Incoterms, payment terms and export documentation prepared to fit your procurement and import requirements.

Can you manufacture to our own proprietary formula under confidentiality?

Yes. Our OEM route is built for this: you supply your finished formula and specification, we sign an NDA before any details are shared, and production runs under GMP-controlled, fully traceable batch conditions. Your formula is never shared, altered or reused — your IP stays yours from brief to delivery.

Can we skip new formula development and stability testing by using one of your existing products?

Yes. If you’d rather not wait out a full R&D and stability-testing cycle, our library of over 10,000 ready-made, already-tested formulas lets you move straight to customisation and production. Point us to anything in our portfolio — skincare, hair care, fragrance, body care, aerosol or home care — and we’ll adapt the scent, texture, colour and packaging to your brand without restarting formulation from scratch. We make products for every type of need, tailored to you.

How much does it cost to start a private label cosmetics brand?

Cost depends on the formula, packaging and order volume, so we don’t publish fixed pricing. After your brief we send a price estimation before any commitment, so you can confirm the numbers fit your business plan before development begins.

Can I combine different product categories, like skincare and fragrance, in one order?

Yes. Because we manufacture cosmetics, perfumes, aerosols and home care under one roof, you can build a multi-category range — for example a skincare line plus a matching fragrance — through a single point of contact instead of coordinating separate factories.

Does L’Origine manufacture vegan, cruelty-free or clean-beauty products?

Yes. We formulate vegan and cruelty-free products, source natural and organic ingredients, and can produce paraben- and sulfate-free clean-beauty formulas on request, along with recyclable and PCR (post-consumer recycled) packaging options.

Can I visit the factory or arrange an audit before signing?

Yes. Brand owners and auditors are welcome to visit our SAIF Zone, Sharjah facility or arrange a remote audit. Our GMP and ISO 22716:2007 certification is backed by full batch traceability and documentation available for review.

Does L’Origine offer Halal-certified manufacturing?

Yes, Halal-certified formulation and manufacturing is available on request, alongside our GMP, ISO 22716:2007 and Emirates Quality Mark certifications — useful for brands targeting GCC and other Muslim-majority markets.

What packaging options can I choose from?

Bottles, jars, tubes, sachets, airless pumps and aerosol cans, in materials including glass, PCR (recycled) plastic and virgin plastic. Packaging is sourced and finalised alongside your formula, with custom label and carton artwork developed to match your brand.

Can I reorder after my first production run, and how long does that take?

Yes. Once your formula, packaging and registration are finalised, reorders are typically faster than the first run since development and testing are already complete — you move straight to production and delivery without repeating the full 8–12 week concept-to-shelf process.

How is L’Origine different from other private label cosmetics manufacturers?

Few manufacturers combine cosmetics, perfumes, aerosols and home care under one roof with in-house regulatory registration. With 35+ years of experience, eight production sites across the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Italy, the UK and Brazil, and GMP/ISO 22716 certification, we take a brand from concept to shelf without you needing multiple suppliers.

What is the difference between Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette?

Eau de Parfum typically contains 15–20% fragrance oil and lasts 6–8 hours on skin, while Eau de Toilette contains around 5–15% and lasts 3–5 hours. Eau de Parfum is stronger and longer-lasting; Eau de Toilette is lighter and better suited to daytime wear or frequent reapplication.

Why does the same perfume smell different on different people?

Skin chemistry, pH, natural oil levels, diet and body temperature all affect how a fragrance’s top, heart and base notes evaporate and blend. Two people wearing the same perfume can smell noticeably different because their skin interacts with those notes at different rates.

How can you make a fragrance last longer on the skin?

Apply to pulse points such as the wrists, neck and inner elbows, where body heat helps the fragrance diffuse. Moisturizing with an unscented lotion beforehand gives the scent something to cling to, and avoiding rubbing the fragrance in after spraying helps preserve its top notes.

What is the difference between a serum and a moisturizer?

A serum is a lightweight, fast-absorbing formula with a high concentration of active ingredients, such as vitamin C, niacinamide or hyaluronic acid, targeting specific concerns. A moisturizer is typically thicker, sealing in hydration and strengthening the skin barrier. Serums are usually applied first, followed by a moisturizer to lock in the actives.

What ingredients help reduce hyperpigmentation and dark spots?

Vitamin C, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, kojic acid and azelaic acid are commonly used to fade hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanin production. Daily SPF is essential alongside these, since UV exposure is the main reason dark spots worsen or return.

What SPF level is recommended for daily use?

SPF 30 is generally considered the minimum for adequate daily protection, blocking around 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks about 98%. Broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 applied every morning is commonly recommended regardless of weather, since UVA rays that cause premature aging penetrate clouds and glass.

What is the difference between sulfate-free and regular shampoo?

Sulfates, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, are strong detergents that create a rich lather and cleanse effectively, but can strip natural oils, irritate sensitive scalps and fade color-treated hair. Sulfate-free shampoos use gentler surfactants that cleanse with less stripping, making them better suited to dry, curly, color-treated or sensitive-scalp hair.

How often should hair be washed for optimal scalp health?

Most hair types benefit from washing every 2–3 days, though this varies by scalp oil production, hair type and activity level. Very oily scalps may need daily washing, while dry or curly hair often does better washed once or twice a week to avoid stripping natural oils.

What ingredients help repair damaged or color-treated hair?

Hydrolyzed keratin, argan oil, biotin, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and amino acids help rebuild the hair’s protein structure and lock in moisture, while UV filters and antioxidants help protect color-treated hair from fading caused by sun exposure and oxidation.
